I coach, recruit, and hire in support of a sustainable, thriving progressive movement.

Hi, my name is Matt, and I believe strongly in a progressive movement where everyone who wants to do so can find meaningful work that pays well, in an environment where everyone is treated with dignity and respect.

I work in support of this mission, providing the people, process, and empathy needed to align employment with our shared values.

Whether it's helping someone negotiate their salary, maintain boundaries at work, or run better, more equitable hiring processes, my sweet spot is working with progressive organizations and social change professionals on issues where big emotions or fundamental values intersect with decision-making.

I bring people and orgs together.

Since 2017,  I have been doing recruiting and coaching work full time, supporting the movement by supporting the people –  employees and employers alike – in finding their best fits. I source, recruit, and hire. I listen, mentor and coach.

It’s been an honor to partner with movement organizations – such as SEIU, M+R, Narrative Initiative, We Make the Future, Climate Advocacy Lab, UltraViolet, Faithful America, and Win Without War – and individuals from entry-level to executive, as we worked together building the world we want to see.

I’m a grassroots activist and organizer at heart.

I first became involved in the progressive movement as a grassroots activist, working to build political capacity and power at a number of grassroots organizations I belonged to.

I then spent a decade working within progressive organizations by running strategic campaigns and building a better world.

This included managing a successful campaign in California against an entrenched incumbent and eight years as a digital campaigner, including five years as a Campaign Manager and Senior Campaigner at CREDO Action where I ran a wide variety of issue advocacy campaigns.

I then spent 2016 as the Managing Director of a major-donor organizing project that moved $2.5M to grassroots groups in swing states (largely BIPOC-led organizations organizing and accountable to heavily BIPOC constituencies) that didn’t have blue chip fundraising programs but did good vote work.
